Unison

I've been trying since forever to get a picture of all the girls smiling.  And looking at the camera.  And looking cute.  It was hard, but we finally have a winner!
One smile, not bad.

2 smiles, great!

Violet thought about it....

YAY!  We did it.  All that's missing is red lipstick on miss Violet!
FYI, lipstick is a good bribe to get girls to wear what you want and get their hair done how you want.

Getting to know Daddy

I loove to ask my kids questions.  They are so funny and always thinking.  I am making a point of recording more of the things I ask.  I asked Emily and Eva a bunch of questions about Curtis before Father's Day.  They're funny now, and will be hilarious years from now.

I should have answered the questions too, I think my answers might be a little different though!

Scared

Yesterday was a pretty stressful day for me! I was holding Violet yesterday morning and rubbing her little head when I noticed she had a weird lump on her head above her neck. I checked to see if it was a bump or a bug bite, but it wasn't. So I did what any mother would do--I freaked out. It doesn't take much for me to worry of feel anxious, and this definitely threw me over the edge.
I immediately called our doctor and miraculously they had just had a cancellation so I was able to make an appointment for the same day. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get in until Monday. I can't even imagine a whole weekend of worrying and waiting. I would have taken her to emerg for sure.

So I put Violet down for her nap and went on the net to see if I could find some info on her bump. I read that if your child has a cold or illness the glands on the back of the head could swell up ( I didn't even know we had glands back there!) the location of her lump suggested this could be what she had, so I felt a little better, but was still super worried. Curtis was at work too and I didn't want to call him until after I went to the Dr's in case it was nothing.

When Violet woke up from her nap I checked her head again and realized there were 2 lumps, both where the glands are, so it didn't alarm me too much more, but I definitely was more worried. So I take her to the Dr's with my bloodshot eyes and try to keep myself composed. Her Dr said she had lots of kids coming in with the same lumps and it WAS swollen glands.

I was soooo relieved. Like, breathed a huge sigh of relief as soon as I knew she was ok.

I am the kind of mom to overreact when it comes to my kids. Kids have no voice, it's up to me to protect them. And sometimes over protect them.

I am SO grateful my little 10 month stinker is OK! I love her and need her in my life every single day! She is totally getting into everything now and I love it! I love watching her pull everything out of drawers and cupboards, she's learning and discovering and it's awesome to watch her change. It stressed me out with the other 2, but let's face it, Violet's messes are just a drop in the bucket compared to her lovely sisters!

New hobby or suicide?

Anyone who has kids knows how hard it is to spend quality time with your husband!  I have found this to be the case with Curtis and I lately.  The only time alone we really have is in the evening when the kiddos are asleep, and we're TIRED!  We don't do too much except hang out, watch some tv, get things ready for the next day.

Cool.

 Not.

We're lucky enough to have both sets of Grandparents in town, so we do get do go out on dates pretty often, but it's just not enough for me!  I love that guy and wish I could spend way more time with him, so I thought of a solution.....take on some of his hobbies.  There's not much of a chance he's going to take on any of mine--sewing together would be fun though :)
Curtis loves boy toys.  Dirtbikes, quads, all that stuff.  Not really my thing, until Curtis got a motorcycle!  He got it about 3 weeks ago, and I've been ripping it up with him...me on the back of course.  It's so much fun.  Though last time we went out we were going like 120 on the highway, and I got a bug on the cheek!  It was disgusting, like green guts on my face disgusting.

But worth it.

Curtis often goes out with friends dirtbiking on his days off, and with my new need for speed, I decided this is something I want to try, something we can do together.  So....

I'm getting a dirtbike, and I'm gonna learn to ride!

I'm totally scared, I'm not good at those kind of things, but I love that Curtis is excited about this!  He thinks it's awesome I want to do this, and he's already found some starter bikes for me on kijiji.

We're looking at a 1990 Kawasaki.  Oh yeah, power baby, lol.  It's pretty much a piece, and a total "girl" bike, but I'm going to need something I can ride hard and crash while I'm still getting good.

From sewing to dirtbiking, who would have thought!?!?
